Our vision and mission is to help connect people to faith
For generations, St Mary’s Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Nativity of the Mother of God has been a pillar of faith, heritage, and community in South London. Established to serve the growing Orthodox Christian population, our cathedral remains a place of spiritual refuge, cultural preservation, and communal support.
We welcome Orthodox Christians from all backgrounds, as well as those interested in learning more about our faith. Through our liturgical services, Greek school, community initiatives, and charitable work, we aim to nurture faith, foster connections, and build a legacy for future generations.
Our Faith & Mission
As part of the Archdiocese of Great Britain and Thyateira, under the spiritual guidance of His Eminence Archbishop Nikitas, our mission is to:
✔ Provide a sacred space for prayer, worship, and the sacraments.
✔ Preserve and promote Greek Orthodox traditions through education and cultural programs.
✔ Serve the wider community through outreach, charity, and pastoral care.
We are honored to host major church events, including the Clergy Conference and the Christian Orthodox Thyateira Youth (COTY) Lenten Retreat, bringing together Orthodox faithful from across the UK.

Our Team & Leadership
At St Mary’s Greek Orthodox Cathedral, our leadership team and dedicated committees work tirelessly to uphold the mission of our parish. Under the spiritual guidance of Archimandrite Christodoulos Persopoulos, our clergy, parish council, and volunteers come together to foster a strong and welcoming Orthodox community. From organising liturgical services and educational programs to coordinating charitable initiatives and cultural events, each member plays a vital role in the life of our cathedral. Our ‘Ai Myroforai’ Ladies’ Committee leads many of our outreach and fundraising efforts, ensuring that faith, tradition, and service remain at the heart of everything we do. United by devotion and a shared commitment, our team strives to serve both our congregation and the wider community with love and compassion.
